If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo

Out: May 3, 2016

Official Summary: Amanda Hardy is the new girl in school. Like anyone else, all she wants is to make friends and fit in. But Amanda is keeping a secret. She's determined not to get too close to anyone.

But when she meets sweet, easygoing Grant, Amanda can't help but start to let him in. As they spend more time together, she realizes just how much she is losing by guarding her heart. She finds herself yearning to share with Grant everything about herself--including her past. But Amanda's terrified that once she tells him the truth, he won't be able to see past it.

Because the secret that Amanda's been keeping? It's that she used to be Andrew.

Will the truth cost Amanda her new life--and her new love?

Why I Want to Read: I came across this book on Goodreads and I immediately knew that I needed to read it. Too bad it's coming out in May of next year...sigh. At any rate, I think it sounds fantastic and I love that there are more and more transgender books being released. The LGBTQ spectrum is so wide and encompasses many people, so it's important to have books that focus on that.

What made me even more excited about this book is reading the blog Read.Read.Read's Waiting on Wednesday post for the same title. Apparently the book is partly inspired by the author's experiences as a trans woman, PLUS the cover model for the book is Kira Conley, a transgender model. How amazing is that?! I love the cover by the way. I think the pose and facial expression says a lot.

Are you excited for this one too? What are you waiting on today?

This sounds so fabulous! Definitely adding this one to my Goodreads list.

Have you seen anything for "If You Could Be Mine"? It is a book about two Iranian girls who are in love with each other, and deals with the fact that being transgender is more easily accepted in Iran than being gay, so one of the girls considers transitioning so they could be together openly. I have not read it, but I really want to!

This one sounds wonderful! And angsty, and there had better be a HEA. SOBS. Some blurbs just leave me demanding one for the characters, lol! Here's mine http://editingeverything.com/blog/2015/11/12/wow-the-world-according-to-anna/

It sounds quite good, Lauren - thanks for putting it on my radar :) I'm not looking for a release, but rather a Christmas present :p I hope Santa will drop Neil Gaiman Sandman Omnibuses under my tree! Hubs was notified through heavy hinting, so I've got every confidence that between him and jolly St. Nick, my wish will come true :D

Its so hard keeping secrets and not knowing how someone will accept them. It's worse though to keep them thinking they would never find out. This sounds like a really intense and emotional read. Very interesting!

This sounds like a great one! Will dd this one to my to-read list. I've only read one Transgender book so far and I really enjoyed that one, The Other Me by Suzanne van Rooyen.
I like the sound of this one and how she already switched genders and is afraid what he will think of her when he knows. And that's awesome they managed to find a transgender model for the cover.
